Police Eagle helicopter was all over the place, tracking a car on the Southern Motorway. A wild chase ensued, leading to the arrest of two individuals after the car decided to play bumper cars with a patrol car in The Warehouse carpark in Takanini. Inspector Peter Raynes spilled the beans, revealing that police got a tip-off around 4.30pm about a stolen vehicle making its way north in Pukekohe. Lo and behold, about 40 minutes later, the rogue car was spotted cruising along Porchester Road in Papakura.

The car made a bold move by dipping into The Warehouse carpark in Takanini Village to scoop up a female passenger. But things took a turn for the worse when the police car approached, and the fleeing vehicle went all smashy-smashy on it and a few other cars in the car park. The Police Eagle helicopter then swooped in, joining the action and keeping a keen eye on the car. The female accomplice was caught red-handed, clutching stolen goods as the car went on a joyride through the area, eventually hitting the Southern Motorway southbound at Takanini. Road spikes to the rescue at the Bombay offramp! The car then decided to pull a U-turn back onto the Southern Motorway heading north, only to surrender near Ramamara. The driver bolted out of the car and tried his luck running across the motorway, but the police were quick on their feet and nabbed him without a fuss. The woman was also taken into custody, and the stolen goods were safely recovered. Word on the street is that a bunch of cars might’ve been scratched or dented during this chaotic ordeal, so if you’re one of the unlucky ones, give the police a shout.
