disability-pensioners-home-destroyed-in-suspected-arson-attack

A Brisbane disability pensioner, Wayne Price, woke up to smoke and flames at 2 am this morning, escaping from his burning home in the suburb of Inala in the city’s south-west. Unfortunately, his house of 30 years was destroyed in a suspected arson attack, leaving him devastated and unsure of what to do next.

Price, who is uninsured, expressed his shock and despair to 9News, stating, “I’m totally devastated, I don’t know what I’m going to do to be honest. I’ve had some bad experiences in the past, but this would have to be the worst by far, I can’t believe this has happened to me.” He added, “How do you explain something like this, no one deserves to be treated like this.”

The fire caused significant structural damage to Price’s home, rendering it uninhabitable. Four firefighting crews worked diligently to save the property, but the damage was too severe. Police are investigating the incident, as they suspect it is linked to another fire that occurred 25 minutes earlier at a nearby property, which only suffered superficial damage. Additionally, CCTV footage captured a third fire in a nearby park, adding to Price’s string of unfortunate incidents.

Price revealed that prior to the arson attack, he had experienced vandalism and theft, including slashed tires, smashed windows, and stolen belongings. This recent tragedy has left him feeling overwhelmed and helpless in the face of such senseless destruction.

As Price navigates the aftermath of this devastating event, the community’s support and assistance will be crucial in helping him rebuild his life. In times of crisis, it is essential for neighbors to come together and offer a helping hand to those in need, showing compassion and solidarity in the face of adversity. Let us stand with Wayne Price and others like him, offering our support and kindness as they work towards healing and recovery.
