As emergency crews are on the lookout for missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop, there are countless questions surrounding the 17-year-old’s disappearance. What happened to her is still a mystery, but there are some key details that we do know so far. Pheobe Bishop was last seen at Airport Drive outside Bundaberg Regional Airport around 8.30am on May 15.
Last Known Whereabouts of Pheobe Bishop
According to her housemates, Bishop was last seen by them on Thursday, May 15, when they dropped her off outside the Bundaberg Regional Airport. She had a ticket for a flight from Bundaberg to Western Australia with a connecting flight through Brisbane. She was heading to WA to visit her boyfriend, but she never made it into the terminal or checked in for her flight. Since then, there have been no confirmed sightings of the teenager or her luggage.
Search Area Narrows Down
The search area has recently been narrowed down to bushland near Gin Gin, where an item of potential interest was discovered. However, it’s still unclear what the item is or how it relates to Bishop. Crews are currently conducting searches in the Good Scrub National Park through aerial, waterways, and land searches. Fire and Rescue teams are also gearing up to fly a drone over the national park, located just an hour away from where Bishop was last seen.
Disappearance Raises Concerns
Detectives have noted that Bishop’s disappearance is out of character for her, as she typically stays in touch with others. CCTV footage from the airport shows that she did not enter the terminal, adding to the mystery. Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnson, expressed the family’s anguish on Facebook, pleading for her daughter’s safe return. Bishop’s boyfriend is equally devastated, unable to comprehend the reality of the situation. A grey Hyundai ix35 has been seized by police and deemed a crime scene in connection with the disappearance.
Establishment of Crime Scenes
In addition to the search area, police have set up two crime scenes related to Bishop’s disappearance. One crime scene is located at the house in Gin Gin where Bishop resided with her housemates. The grey Hyundai ix35, belonging to her roommates, was also seized and investigated by authorities. Police are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle heading towards Bundaberg on the day of Bishop’s disappearance to come forward. As of now, no suspects are in custody, leaving the investigation open and ongoing.
