Australian Cam Davis, who hails from down under, ya know, has a share of the lead after the first round of the US PGA Championship. His mate, Adam Scott, from the same country, is lagging behind by three strokes. The 30-year-old bloke from Sydney managed to shoot seven birdies and two bogeys, ending up with a five-under 66 at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In a surprising turn of events, Davis found himself sharing the lead with American Ryan Gerard. The Yank was cruising at seven-under with just two holes left to play when, out of nowhere, he started hitting consecutive bogeys. Like, seriously mate, what a rollercoaster of a round! As Davis approached his final hole of the day, he was sitting pretty at six-under and only needed a par to secure the outright clubhouse lead. But, nope, things took a turn for the worse. His second shot landed in some thick rough, and the poor Aussie couldn’t quite pull off the up-and-down, missing his par putt and wrapping up what could have been a flawless round.
So, yeah, not really sure why this matters, but it’s pretty cool to see a couple of Aussies making waves at the US PGA Championship. Let’s see if Davis can bounce back in the next round and show ’em what he’s made of. Who knows, maybe Scott will step up his game and give his mate a run for his money. Golf, mate, you never know what’s gonna happen next. Just gotta roll with the punches and keep swinging those clubs. Cheers to a thrilling tournament ahead!
