Free Three-Course Meal at Far North Restaurant for 100 Guests
In a heartwarming display of generosity and community spirit, Danielle Moa and her son, Jesse Moa, are hosting a special Christmas lunch at their family-owned restaurant, Jesse’s on the Waterfront, located in the historic town of Mangōnui. The event will cater to 100 guests and feature a delectable three-course meal, promising to fill hearts with good food and Christmas cheer.
A Family’s Gift to the Community
The Moa family, consisting of Danielle, Anaru, Jesse – the head chef, and Tyler – the front-of-house manager, took over the restaurant just over two years ago. To give back to the community that has supported them, they decided it was time to spread joy to those in need. Jesse Moa expressed their motivation, stating, “It’s for the community, for those in need, or who need a bit of cheering up.”
A Festive Feast for All
The three-course meal will kick off with an appetizer of steamed red curry mussels and garlic bread, a signature dish of Jesse’s. This will be followed by a main course featuring champagne ham, roast lamb, roast vegetables, and cauliflower and broccoli with cheese sauce. To conclude the meal on a sweet note, guests will indulge in a dessert of pavlova and New York chocolate brownie with custard and all the trimmings.
Spreading Christmas Cheer
The Mangōnui community has rallied behind the event, offering assistance with serving food, dishwashing, and cleanup. Local businesses have also shown their support through donations of food, cash, and gas. Despite the long hours of preparation and early start, Jesse Moa believes the effort is worthwhile to bring smiles to those in need of Christmas cheer.
As the community comes together to share in the festive spirit, the Moa family’s gesture of kindness serves as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas – compassion, generosity, and togetherness. Let us all take inspiration from their selfless act and find ways to spread joy to those around us during this holiday season.
