Four people were injured after a second vehicle crashed into a stationary vehicle that had been involved in an earlier crash near Whangārei, on Saturday night. The incident occurred on State Highway 14 at Maungatapere, as confirmed by Superintendent Matt Srhoj.

The Incident Details
Several police officers were present at the scene of a single-car crash around 8.40 pm on Saturday. The driver of the first car involved in the crash was conversing with a police officer inside a patrol car when a second vehicle suddenly veered across the road and collided with the front of one of the patrol vehicles. This unexpected collision resulted in minor injuries to both the police officer and the first driver. Another police officer sustained moderate injuries while trying to avoid the out-of-control vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle also suffered minor injuries.

Despite the circumstances, all injured parties, including the police officers and the drivers involved, had been discharged from the hospital by late Sunday morning.
